Privacy Policy

The short version

Vovea isn't live yet. We're running a waitlist. If you sign up, we collect your first name, email address, the language you want to learn, and a checkbox confirming you're 13 or older. We use that to email you when Vovea launches. We don't sell, rent, or share your data for marketing. You can unsubscribe at any time.

That's it. The rest of this page is the detailed version.

What this policy covers

Right now, Vovea isn't a live product. We're running a waitlist so we can notify people when our language-learning app is ready. This policy describes what we do with the information you give us when you join that waitlist, and nothing more.

When Vovea launches as a working product, this policy will need to be updated to describe the product. We'll email you before any material change takes effect. We won't silently expand what we do with your data.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we collect:

  • Your first name — whatever you type into the name field. We use it to greet you in emails (e.g., "Hey Don,").
  • Your email address — the one you type into the form.
  • The language you want to learn — which you pick from a dropdown. We use it to prioritize and tailor launch emails (for example, so Spanish learners hear about Spanish features first).
  • Your age attestation — a single yes/no checkbox confirming you're 13 or older. We don't ask for your birthdate, just the confirmation.
  • The time you joined — so we can tell signups apart and send launch notifications in order.
  • Your IP address — automatically recorded by our server when you submit the form, used only to help prevent spam and abuse of the waitlist.

That's everything. We do not collect your last name, phone number, date of birth, home address, precise location, payment information, or any data about how you use other websites or apps.

What we do with it

  • We send you one welcome email confirming your signup, greeted by your first name.
  • When Vovea launches, we'll email you with early access. Depending on what language you picked, you may receive language-specific updates (for example, we may send Spanish-learner early access before other languages are ready).
  • We may occasionally email you about Vovea's progress. You can unsubscribe from these at any time and still keep your spot on the launch list.

We don't sell your data. We don't rent it. We don't share it with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

Who has access to your data

Three parties handle your waitlist record:

  • Vovea LLC (us), a Michigan limited liability company.
  • Resend (resend.com), our email delivery provider, which sends the welcome email and future launch emails on our behalf.
  • Supabase (supabase.com), our database provider, which stores your email in a managed Postgres database.

Both Resend and Supabase are bound by their own privacy policies and industry-standard data-processing terms. Neither can use your email for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep your data

We'll keep your waitlist record until:

  • You unsubscribe — we remove you within 10 days.
  • Vovea launches, and 30 days have passed since you received your launch notification.
  • You ask us to delete it — email hello@vovea.com.

Your rights

At any time, you can:

  • Unsubscribe — click the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
  • Request deletion — email hello@vovea.com and we'll remove your record within 30 days.
  • Request a copy — email us and we'll send you what we have on record (your name, email, language, timestamp, and age attestation).

If you're in California, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (CCPA, GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar), those rights apply to you. Email hello@vovea.com and we'll help you exercise them.

Children

The Vovea waitlist is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age. We ask you to confirm you're 13 or older before submitting your email, and we do not knowingly accept signups from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child under 13 has submitted their email to the waitlist, email hello@vovea.com and we will delete the record immediately. This policy is subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Security

We use HTTPS (TLS encryption) for all connections to our site and for data in transit to our providers. Your waitlist record lives in Supabase's managed Postgres infrastructure, which provides encryption at rest and is SOC 2 Type II compliant.

Because there are no user accounts on the waitlist, there are no passwords to protect. When Vovea launches as a product with accounts, we'll update this policy to describe account security.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses only the minimum cookies needed to function. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site analytics. We do not use tracking pixels or device fingerprinting.

If you find something on the site that looks like a tracker, please tell us — we didn't put it there intentionally.

International users

Vovea is based in the United States. When you submit your email, it is stored on servers in the United States (and potentially other regions where our providers operate). If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction, you are agreeing to this cross-border transfer when you join the waitlist.

Changes to this policy

When Vovea launches as a full product, this policy will need to grow to describe the product. We'll email everyone on the waitlist before any material change takes effect, with enough time to read the updates and unsubscribe if you disagree.

For minor changes (typo fixes, clarifications, updated contact info), we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Substantive changes get an email.

Contact

Questions, concerns, or data requests:

  • Email: hello@vovea.com
  • Company: Vovea LLC, a Michigan limited liability company

A physical mailing address for postal correspondence will be listed here once we've finalized it. In the meantime, email reaches us faster than postal mail would.

In plain English: we're a small pre-launch project. We collect your first name, email address, the language you want to learn, and an age confirmation so we can greet you by name when the app is ready, tailor launch emails, and confirm you're 13+. We don't do anything else with it. You can leave the waitlist any time by unsubscribing or emailing us.
